movies, swimming and bikes

Last night we took the boys to the drive-in to see Madagascar 3. It was a cute movie, even cuter was the conversation Nathan and I had on the way home at 10:30pm. "Time after Time" came on the radio so I turned the volume up, to which Nathan responds, "What's this?! This is not hip hop, this is not rock. It isn't even classic rock. This is just singing, and I do not like singing!" lol I guess he's not a Cyndi Lauper fan. A little later, "Mom do you know what old hip hop is?" Me: "What?" Nathan: "Old School!" That kids makes me laugh so much every single day!

I love my sweet boy Collin too. Aren't he and his friends the cutest little swimmers you've ever seen?

The biggest thing to happen this week was Nathan learning to ride his bike, no training wheels!

One Fish, Two Fish

Today we read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. It's my favorite Dr. Seuss book. For our learning activity we made patterns with the rainbow goldfish crackers and then practiced adding and subtracting with Swedish fish candy, yum. Next, we made pretty mosaic fish and finished our activity off watching Finding Nemo.

Andrew

Since I'm blogging again, I can't forget to add the most important thing that has happened since I stopped posting last year. We had a baby! Andrew was born March 4, 2012 7 lbs 11 oz 19 3/4 inches. He has since grown A LOT! He is a happy baby and we all love him so much. These are some pictures taken by my wonderful friend Michelle Peterson from Michelle Peterson Photography.

Game Day

Yesterday was Nathan's last day of  preschool. They had a tea party at school so he picked out his outfit. I think he looked so handsome, don't you think?

I set up a maze with crepe paper going down the hallway to surprise him when he woke up. After we ate donuts and I told him I had some fun games for him to play. Hopefully, he doesn't expect this much excitement every morning this summer.
He didn't know what was going on

I think they had more fun cutting down the paper with their swords.

Sidewalk chalk games. I drew circles to make different color paths.

Horse shoes from the dollar bin at Target

Pirate Day

This day we decided to be pirates, which happens quite often at our house. We read How I Became a Pirate, colored Jake and then watched Jake and the Neverland Pirates. I also had them do a little alphabet scavenger hunt, just so the activity was somewhat educational. They had to bring me objects that started with the letters in Pirate. Once they finished I handed them a treasure map I made. It sent them all over the house, ending at the fridge where a treat was waiting inside. Lots of fun!

Summer Fun Activity One

I haven't blogged in forever, but I plan on having a super awesome summer with my three boys and I want to document it. My five year old, Nathan  and I sat down and brainstormed some of the fun day trips and activities we would do the month of June and I decided to make the hours I've spent on pinterest count and do some of the things from the countless list of "Fun, Free, Easy, Things to do with your toddlers, kids, boys this summer, at home, outside, etc"

Today we had a "Lion" day. We read one of their favorite books Deadliest Animals
Then we painted lion faces with paper plates and noodles for the mane

Next, we watched Lion King 1 1/2

Last, we played a game I call Lion Tail Tag. I attached a tail (or yellow tube sock) to their back with a clothes pin. I told them they had to crawl around like a lion and try to steal each others tail. A pretty intense wrestling match followed, but I think they enjoyed themselves and I loved watch my little lion cubs play.
